Area man teaches hitting, life lessons to kids

Mason Harris isn’t about to let a little thing like death prevent him from enjoying baseball season.
Although Harris denies the claim, he does acknowledge that a few &uot;minor&uot; health complications &045; a heart attack and two stents &045; have an impact.
Owner and operator of Cahaba Furniture for 25 years, Harris has coached and sponsored a Little League team for a total of six years.
The team his company sponsored first benefitted from his willingness when his sons were playing.
Harris has been a part of Little League baseball for a total of six years.
Originally he played softball.
He started coaching baseball when his sons started playing.
He’s never coached any other sport, but he’s refereed football.
After they grew out of it &045; four years later &045; he stopped.
Now that his grandson is back in the game, so is Harris &uot;They needed coaches and I decided to come back out and help coach,&uot; Harris said.
Harris has strong feelings about working with children.
Harris hopes he can give them some idea of how he thinks things should be.
