Funeral arrangements are still being made in the tragic death of 57-year-old Joe Fulford, who was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Roy Nix, traffic division commander for the Selma Police Department, Fulford was killed when an Infiniti 245 hit the Pontiac Grand Prix she was driving on the driver side.
Nix said witness reports said Fulford reportedly pulled out off of Plant Street, crossing the U.S. Highway 80 bypass, when the other collided with her.
“Our estimates are that the other car was going about 50 miles per hour and really did not have anywhere to go,” Nix said.
The driver of the Infiniti received minor injuries — mostly related to airbag deployment and other blunt force — while the passenger in Fulford’s car, her mother, 76-year-old Caroline Billingsley Fulford, was also injured.
Details of their injuries were not available.
Miller Funeral Home is charged with the arrangements.
Nix said the accident happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. and that no charges will be filed in the incident.
