The Southside Lady Panthers are heading to Troy next week after routing the Brewbaker Lady Rams of Montgomery 71-37.
The Lady Panthers played an outstanding all-around game.
Four players scored in double figures.
While a tenacious man-to-man defense for three quarters of the game led to turnovers for easy fastbreak layups.
Southside’s record now stands at 20-7.
The game started in an up tempo fashion with both teams pushing the ball. The Lady Rams scored the first four points of the game.
The Lady Panthers then went on a 10-0 sprint with Tiffany Anderson scoring seven straight points in the run including a 3-pointer.
The rest of the game was history.
Anderson scored 11 in the first quarter to bury Brewbaker.
Southside continued their fullcourt pressure defense and held Brewbaker to only six points in the second quarter to stretch their lead to 42-20 at the half.
The Lady Panthers stayed with their game plan in the second half by pushing the ball up court.
They decide to slow their pace half way though the third quarter as the lead swelled up by 25 points.
In the fourth, with the Lady Panthers up 65-31 and 3:59 left on the clock, coach Williams emptied his bench.
Anderson led all scorers with 18 points. Senior Markeisha Towns scored a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Andreaka William also scored 15 points.
