Despite a smothering defense, the Selma Saints lost to Carver 66-55.

Brandon Davis scored 19 points, five assists and matched Carver’s guard basket for basket.

The Saints came into the second half down 36-27.

In the third with 4:32 Brandon Davis was fouled. He hit both free throws and the Saints were down 53-49 and appeared to be charging.

However, they failed to score on their next three trips to the basket and Carver managed to hold off the attack.

Davis got help from John Daily, who continued his assault on the Carver guard, with 15 points and five caroms.

It still was not enough to overcome the Wolverines.

The sub-regionals start Friday, 7 p.m. with Opelika at Selma High. The girls will play at home on Thursday night.
