MONTGOMERY&045;Marion Military Institute’s center Felecia Sprott must be a morning person.
With a 9 a.m. tip-off in the AISA State Basketball Tournament Regionals, Sprott and the Lady Tigers faced a heavily-favored Sparta team at Huntingdon College.
With Sprott doing her best Shaquille O’Neal impersonation, the Lady Tigers destroyed Sparta, 61-31 to advance to the AISA Final Four next week.
Sprott was amazing.
She scored 39 points and grabbed an eye-popping 35 rebounds in the contest.
While the 39 points is a career high, the rebounds isn’t even a personal record.
“She dominated,” Ivey said. “There’s no other way to put it.”
And to top it all off, Sprott only scored two points in the fourth quarter.
She started off hot with 13 in the first quarter.
She added eight in the second and 16 in the third.
She outscored Sparta by herself in every quarter but the last and had eight more points than the Sparta team for the entire game.
But she wasn’t alone on the floor.
Samantha Suttles had eight points and 10 rebounds while Emily Easley added eight points.
Jonika Smith had four points and 10 rebounds while Yolanda Kelley added two points and played a good defensive game.
