Two little girls went missing from the 500 block of King Street this afternoon. They were found four hours later, unharmed.
About 4 p.m., police began a door-to-door search for the two girls, one age 7 and the other age 6.
Lt. David Evans coordinated the response. Detectives Mike Harris and Frederick Walker worked the case with other members of the police department. Fire Chief Mike Stokes, Mayor George Evans and council president Cecil Williamson also worked together with police at the scene.
Another child living in the area told his parents he saw the two girls walking down King Street. The parents reported it to police.
As it turns out, the little girls had gone to a birthday party in East Selma. Friends dropped the pair of girls off at the house on King Street before 8 p.m.
They were returned to loved ones, unharmed.
