Brandon &uot;Scooter&uot; Davis is a player and the Selma senior proved that while living up to his nickname Friday night in the opening round of the Blue and Gray Tournament in Montgomery.

Against Charles Henderson, Davis stole the ball and scooted coast-to-coast for the game-winning lay-up.

Selma took the victory, 54-53.

The Saints showed a lot of heart in this contest as coach Willie Maxey’s boys battled back.

They trailed by 6 points with seven minutes to play in the game.

Davis sparked the rally with a steal and a little coast-to-coast action for 2.

Still down 3, John Dailey knocked down a big shot to cut the lead to one.

Davis then made his third steal of the night and laid in the game winner.

Davis had 23 points to lead the Saints. Eric Martinear, John Dailey and Adrian Allen had six points each.

With the win, the Saints advanced to the second round of the tournament to face Lee of Montgomery.
