The Selma Community Theater has already brought a little piece of Hollywood to town, but now it’s giving the community a chance to see some of 2011’s best films on the big screen for the final time.

The Selma Community Theater is hosting Academy Awards week March 15-22 during which it will show six of the films that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Sharon Diggs-Jackson, who operates and manages the theater with her husband, David Jackson, said the timing seemed right and the theater just wanted to offer the community some of the best.

“It just so happens that this week, because of the timing and so many of the nominated 2011 best picture films came out and were available at the same time, we thought we’d package them together and make that available to the public,” Jackson said. “We’re hoping that they come out and support it. It’s the last opportunity to see these great films on the big screen before they go to DVD.”
