A Selma man arrested on six drug-related charges last week was released from the Dallas County Jail Tuesday after all charges were dropped.

According to Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Ed Greene, Robert Dower, 28, was released from jail after the charges were dropped.

Dower was arrested last Tuesday at a local motel on charges of drug trafficking, unlawful possession of marijuana first-degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cocaine without a tax stamp, and unlawful possession of marijuana without a tax stamp.

According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Randy Pugh, problems existed with paperwork that led to the arrest. &uot;What those problems were, I can’t comment right now,&uot; he said.

Pugh added that more information would be forthcoming from his office once an internal investigation had been completed.

Montgomery-based attorney Bruce Maddox, who is representing Dower, said he had a feeling of vindication upon hearing news of Dower’s release, but also felt curious, adding that he was interested in seeing what the affidavit and search warrant would state.

A search warrant was served on Dower last Tuesday at local motel after Dallas County Sheriff’s Department authorities served a search warrant. Dower was allegedly found with $12,000 worth of cocaine, $1,500 worth of marijuana and $1,500 worth of crack.

About $2,000 in cash was also found.
