A shooting on Sunday outside of the Platinum Club remains under investigation, but an arrest is expected to be made shortly.
He added that officers would soon have sufficient probable cause to make an arrest.
According to Green, three individuals were shot in the early hours of Sunday near the Platinum Club at 1211 Alabama Ave. Police arrived at the area around 2 a.m. after being dispatched and discovered an injured male victim on the ground.
The victim said he had just left the club and was in a parking lot at the corner of Alabama Avenue and Washington Street when he heard shots. He then started running toward the club and was shot in the back.
The second victim, a female, said she was inside the club when she was hit in her left shoulder.
A third victim said he was outside the club on the sidewalk when he heard gunshots and was hit in his left thigh.
All three victims were taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Green noted that investigators were called to the scene to collect evidence. Shell casings were recovered and sent away for analysis. Other evidence is currently being processed and witnesses interviewed. Green said there are a number of suspects in the case.
When asked of the department’s plans to curb crime in the area, Green pointed to the public safety enforcement team, a group that routinely examines nightclubs and keeps records on them.
If an establishment starts to get out of hand, Green said the records are presented to the Selma City Council, which has the ability to revoke a business’ liquor license.
