Everyone believes something. We all have our system of belief. For some it is a theology about their belief in God. For some it may be a philosophy of life. Others develop a code of ethical and moral behavior by which to live. Some even discover a code of living that they choose to be the guiding factor in their life.

I enjoy talking to people from all over the world. It is amazing the variety of belief systems that have conjured up a following through the millennia of time.

Some people get very angry and defensive when talking about their “beliefs.” I’ve heard them raise their voice trying to outshout those around them. It is almost amusing but most of all sad.

For those who are willing to discuss their viewpoint, it is an amazing time to share what really molds and fabricates their lives. There is much to learn from other people.

I have said it for years, “Tell me what you believe about God and Jesus Christ and I can tell you a lot about yourself.” Our basic beliefs shape our character, our values, and portray much about how we relate to others.

When I get into discussions with others about their faith, I always have one crucial question for them, “What is there about your faith that keeps you believing?” I’m always looking for that “something” that makes them love their belief system.

Today, Christians around the world are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the dead. Area churches gathered at Valley Grand Baptist Church this morning to celebrate this cornerstone of the Christian faith.

For the Christian, the experience, of being forgiven of their sins through faith in Jesus Christ, is life changing. When He forgives us, not only are our sins forgiven, the guilt from a life of disobedience is removed as well. As a “new creature in Christ,” we are given a new start. We embark on the greatest adventure ever imagined.

Unfortunately, there are some Christians who have yet to discover the joy of the “adventure.” Christianity is more than an experience. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ.

My relationships with Jesus Christ began 50 years ago. My journey through life as a Christian has been exciting, remarkable, thrilling and awesome. I tell people every week that we are all on this journey. Whether it has been a short time of a lifetime, we are in this together.

If you are not excited about your belief system, let me share mine with you. I love being a Christian!
