The Selma Board of Realtors is teaming up with the Selma–Dallas County Chamber of Commerce to host a business breakfast to be held May 2 at the Central Alabama Farmers Co-Op.
The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with the guest speaker being Nisa Miranda, who is director of the University of Alabama’s Center for Economic Development.
“Nisa will be speaking about the assets of Selma and Dallas County,” said Chamber Executive Director Sheryl Smedley. “The focus and mission of her work is to improve sustainable economic growth in Alabama’s Black Belt communities. Through her program at the UCED, they administer technical assistance in economic development by developing and structuring programs that build local capacity; increase tourism, recreation and entertainment; and provide a well educated and prepared workforce.”
Current Selma Board of Realtors President Lynetta Hicks said local realtors jumped at the chance to partner with the Chamber to host the event for the community.
I think it’s always important that we promote our business,” said Hicks, who is a real estate broker and partner with the Selma realty company Legacy Properties. “We’re trying to get the word out to be more noticed in the community and we plan on putting a few things on the table to remind people that we are in the community and are anxious to work with everyone and network with our associates.”
Tickets are $10 and are available through the chamber of commerce at 912 Selma Ave., or by calling 875-7241. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Smedley said the Chamber is also seeking sponsors for future business breakfasts and any interested business should contact her at the Chamber.
