Lenora Rose Saia

Lenora Rose Saia, 74, of Birmingham, died Jan. 7, 2004.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Southern Heritage Chapel with Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Pelham directing.

Survivors include her husband of more than 50 years, Carl J. Saia; daughters, Kathy M. Saia of Birmingham and Carolyn Saia Powell (Holland) of Selma; granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn Ellis; sister, Marie Rose Turkiewicz (Witold); brother, Leonard Rose (Judy); sisters-in-law, Nita Rose and Peggy Rose; and many nieces, nephews and god-children.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip T. Rose, Tony Rose Jr. and Dr. Samuel T. Rose.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Rosary service will begin at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Saia, attended Auburn University and The University of Alabama. She was a real estate agent with Rose Realty for 15 years and had been the owner and operator of Carl’s Bootery in Ensley for more than 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood.

The family requests that any memorial donations in her honor be made to the American Cancer Society.

Blossie Edwards White

Blossie Edwards White, 100, of Selma, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Earl Goodwin Parkway with speaker James Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Perryville Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Earnestine Edwards; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elmira Melton; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Active pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.

Family visitation will from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Jake P. Taylor

Jake P. Taylor, 54, of Selma, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church with Elder B Starks officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother, Laura Taylor; six brothers, Kenneth Taylor and family of Detroit, Mich., Bernard Martin, Anthony Martin, Thearthur Martin, Grover Martin and Jessie James Martin all of Selma; three sisters, Fannie Rolen, Lena Martin and Frankie M. Coleman all of Selma.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

LeShana S. Brown

LeShana S. Brown, 15, of Montgomery, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at Town Creek M.B. Church with Pastor P.E. Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her parents, Poala Sanders and Vince Brown; three aunts, Linda McConnell, Dorothy Thomas and Gail James; grandmother, Mae McConnell; special cousin, Latoya McConnell; cousins, Charles McConnell, April McConnell, Johathan Thomas, Felicia Thomas, Dorothy Thomas, Latana McConnell, Vince McConnell, Jasmine McConnell, Alexia McConnell, Charielle McConnell and Jonathan Thomas Jr.; special family at Father Purcell’s Children Center in Montgomery.

local hospital.

Fannie Mae Morton-Woods

Fannie Mae Morton-Woods, 84, of Selma, died Thursday, January 1, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Calvary M. B. Church with the Rev. C.L. Lett officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

James Goldsby

James Goldsby, 86, of Marion, died Saturday, January 3, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, January 10, at Marion Baptist Academy with Rev. Pharish Cureton officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Chapel Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Goldsby.

Tena B. Rudolph

Tena B. Rudolph, 73, of Selma, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at noon on Jan. 10 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Rev. L.L. Ruffin officiating.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a devoted husband of 47 years, Rogers Rudolph; two daughters, Donielle Rudolph of Selma and Sandra Rudolph of Birmingham; one son, Gregory (Drlene) Rudolph of Selma; one stepson, Jerome Jackson of Vallejo, Calif.; two granddaughters, Amisha and May Rudolph of Selma; five step-grandchildren, Monica King, Edward King, Keiera Russell, Kendra Jackson and Camra Jackson; one sister, Mary Sharpe of Selma; one brother, James (Elnora) Boykin of Oklahoma City, Okla; sisters-in-law, Gustavia Boykin, Vera Boykin, Daisy Boykin, Mary Ellen Boykin and Ruth Rudolph-Campbell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Active pallbearers members of the Twelve High Club.

Honorary pallbearers deacons of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Rudolph was the daughter of the late Rev. James H. (Ardella) Boykin, born on Oct. 21, 1930 in Tilden. She was a faithful member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served as counselor of the Matrons. She received her education through Camden Academy, Selma University and Alabama State University. She then pursued a career in early childhood education in the Selma/Dallas County School System.

She was a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Beta Rho Chapter, Cotrie Club, Alabama Education Association and Alabama Retired Teacher Association. Mrs. Rudolph was a loving wife, devoted mother and dedicated sister.
