Wilcox Central 71 Dallas County 66

The Wilcox Central Jaguars took on the Dallas County Hornets Thursday night in the first round of the Wilcox Central Chickadee Classic Thursday night in Camden. The Hornets dropped the game 71-66 in a nail biter.

Clifford Lyons led the Hornets in scoring with 27, and Donovan Dixon finished the night with 14. Antonio Shelton picked up eight points in the losing effort for the Hornets.

Keith 64 Dallas County 61

The Dallas County Hornets fell to the Keith High Bears in the consolation game of the Wilcox Central Chickadee Classic Friday night in Camden 64-61. The Bears were down 28-18 at the half, and managed to come out in the second half and a real game of it.

The Hornets were charged with 31 fouls on Friday night, compared to the 17 fouls that the Bears picked up. The Bears also took 40 free throws on Friday night.

The Hornets Joe Wilson played an outstanding game in the second half keeping the Hornets in the game with the 11 points that he put up.

The Bears shooting was just a little to much late in the game though. Jeremiah Whitt picked up nine fourth quarter points to help push the Bears by the Hornets 64-61.

The Hornets will travel to play in the Pleasant Grove Tournament Jan. 2-4, for their next basketball games.

Wilcox Central 80 R.C. Hatch 60

The Wilcox Central Jaguars took on the R.C. Hatch Bobcats in the championship game of the Wilcox Central Chickadee Classic Friday night in Camden. The Jaguars pushed on by a strong performance from Michael Williams defeated the Bobcats 80-60.

Leading the way for the Jaguars was Williams with 27 points, and he was also named tournament MVP for his outstanding overall performance. Dewon Benjamin also had a good night for the Jaguars picking up 20 points.

The Bobcats were led by Fredrick Lewis with 17 points.

Francis Marion 64 Navarre 60

The Francis Marion Rams traveled to Ft. Walton beach Florida to play in the Beach Ball Blowout beginning this past Thursday. In the Rams first game they took on Navarre and defeated them in a tight game 64-60.

The Rams got off to a good start in the first half taking a 36-19 lead into the locker room, but came out and struggled a little in the third quarter. The Rams were outscored 21-10 in the third quarter, but managed to hang on and win the game.

The Rams were led by Julius Allgood with 18 points, 14 rebounds, a steal, and a blocked shot. Kiedrick Bates finished the night for the Rams with 12 points and five rebounds, and Jeremy Arrington had 12 points, three rebounds, and five assists.

Wilcox Central 61 Dallas County 28

The Wilcox Central Lady Jags took on the Lady Hornets from Dallas County Thursday night in the first round of the Chickadee Classic held in Camden. The Lady Jags blew out the Hornets 61-28.

The game belonged to the Lady Jaguars from the beginning. At the end of the first quarter the jaguars led 17-6, and at the half they ad extended the lead 28-18.By the end of the third quarter they had extended the lead to 47-25, and at that point it was to late for the Hornets to mount any kind of a comeback.

The Lady Jags were led by Shakira Arnold with 14 points, four steals, and six rebounds, and Evelyn McConoco picked up eight points and 11 rebounds on the night. Sharonika Finklea finished the night for the Lady jags with seven points and three rebounds.

Wilcox Central 47 R.C Hatch 46

The Wilcox Central Lady Jaguars improved their record to 14-2, and took home the Chickadee Tournament Championship Friday night with their close win over the R.C. Hatch Lady Bobcats 47-46.

The Lady Bobcats led throughout the first half, and were up by three at the half with a score of 28-25. But the lady Jaguars were not ready to roll over and give up. They battled back to take a three point lead going into the fourth quarter, and managed to pull off the win 47-46 in the end.

The Lady Jaguars were led by Shakira Arnold with 12 points, and Angela Oaks managed to pick up 11 for the Jaguars. Ashley Welch led the way on the boards for the Jaguars picking up 14, and Evelyn McConoco had 12 on the night.
