Hattie G. Shannon
Hattie G. Shannon, 82, of Sardis, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Coley C. Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Church Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one son, Santee Shannon Jr.; three daughters, Sallie Miller, Georgia Watts and Patricia Shannon; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and three nieces.
Active pallbearers are grandsons.
Odis McClenney
Odis McClenney, 68, of Marion died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at New Pernell Baptist Church, Marion Jct., with the Rev. Lugene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include Eugene McClenney.
Charlie Roscoe III
Charlie Roscoe III, 93, of Marion Jct., died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Services were at 12 noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at Pine Grove C.P. Church with the Rev. Dozier officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three sons, Solomon (Lorraine), Charlie IV (Mara) and Lewis; three daughters, Hester Mallard (Goldstein), Minnie Walker and Nancy Jackson; two sisters, Candies Fair and Minnie Dozier; sister-in-law, Idella Roscoe; daughters-in-law, Catherine Roscoe, Joan Roscoe, Frances Roscoe and Edna Roscoe; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Roscoe was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nancy Gales Roscoe, and five children.
Gladys McGrue
Gladys McGrue, 78, of Selma, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence (Rose) McGrue; one granddaughter, Katrina McGrue; one great-grand, Cherrish McGrue; a sister-in-law, Lucy McGrue; a brother-in-law, William McGrue; nephews, nieces, a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. McGrue, was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph McGrue, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Blevins and one sister.
Walter James Bozeman, Jr.
Walter James Bozeman, Jr., of Selma, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, in New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Elwood Sims officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Frazier Bozeman of Selma; daughters Laura Howard, Rebecca Phillips and Janet Henderson; sister Della Browder; grandchildren Daniel (Georgia) Henderson, David Henderson, Rebecca (Kevin) Giadrosich, Laurie Pack, Tyson (Milla) Howards, Catherine (Jeff) Thiery, Nathan Crowell, Sherry Hale, Chrystal (Mark) Kelley, Brandi Ammons and Jamie Bozeman and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bozeman was preceded in death by his son, Walter James Bozeman III.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
The family received friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Ray Campbell
Ray Campbell, 55, of Selma, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Preston Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include wife Valerie P. Campbell of Selma; sons Joey (Lynn) Campbell and Mike Jeter all of Selma; daughters Raylene (Adam) Morgan, Candice (Blake) Ledbetter, Amanda (Carrie) Ledbetter and Brittany Ledbetter all of Selma; brothers Grady L. (Frances) Campbell of Pinehill and Ronnie Campbell all of Pinehill; sisters Kathy (Steve) Maness of Camden and Mable (Danny) Avritt and 10 1/2 grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Mark Combs, Rick Champion, Brian Ember, Jeff Levins, Steve Travis and Charlie Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Dunn and John Wilson.
The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Sarah Alice Greene Evans
Sarah Alice Greene Evans, 66, of Selma, died Thursday, Sept, 12, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Elkdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Finch officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include son Joseph N. Evans of Tuscaloosa.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Melton, Trey Stancil, Mickey House, John Gutherie, Steve Sansom and Franklyn Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Nick Knight, Dr. Jack Burns, Dr. Ray Brignac, Dr. Juilian Howell, the staff of Cahaba Hospice and her family of friends from Elkdale Baptist Church.
Mrs. Evans worked at the Dallas County Health Department for 20 years. She then worked at Roger Butler Jewelers as the office manager.
