Mae Gordon

Mae Gordon, 93, died Saturday, August 23, 2003, at a Montgomery nursing home.

Services were held on Sunday, August 24.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Watson of Selma; grandchildren, Larry Watson of Monroe, Ga., Charles Watson and James Watson both of Selma, Marie Hampton of Falleon, Virginia Clibrey and Patricia Smith both of Selma; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Lee Sr.

Robert Lee Sr., 62, of Selma, died Monday, August 18, 2003, at a Perry County nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at Sister Spring Baptist Church with Elder Christopher Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Tisha) Lee Jr.; two sisters, Edna Steen Walton of Selma and Anne Lee of Queen, N.Y.; one brother, Roosevelt Lee Sr. of Marion; two grandchildren, Tuzur and Robert Lee III; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Jessie Lee Sr.

Active pallbearers are Deacons of Sister Spring Baptist Church.

Edith McAllister Beers

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at New Live Oak Cemetery for Edith Tennille McAllister Beers, 94, who died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at her home. The Rev. George Sedberry will officiate. Lawrence Funeral Home is directing.

Mrs. Beers was predeceased by her husband

Benjamin F. Beers Sr. and an infant daughter.

Survivors include her daughter Quintilla Beers Wood and her son Ben F. Beers Jr. and his wife Margaret Ann Hain Beers; and six grandchildren:

of

Birmingham, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beers was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, one of six children born to Laleah Tennille McAllister and William Angus McAllister. She was a graduate of Huntingdon College in Montgomery. After her marriage to Benjamin F. Beers Sr. she lived in Tyler.

She was an active member of Church Street United Methodist Church, Teresa Kendrick Sunday School Class, the Ossian Club, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Valley Creek Garden Club.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorials be made to Church Street United Methodist Church.
