Bobbie May Edmondson Kuhn

Bobbie May Edmondson Kuhn, 70, of Faunsdale, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at a hospital Tuscaloosa.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Chapel of Kirk Funeral Home in Greensboro, with the Rev. Virgil Pino and Dr. Robert Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana City Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes of Greensboro directing.

Survivors include her husband, George Eugene Kuhn of Faunsdale; two sons, Robert Royce Kuhn of Ft. Deposit and Richard Eugene (Belinda) Kuhn of Selma; one daughter, Cassandra (Greg) Bryant of Greensboro; one brother, James N. (Faye) Edmondson, O. L. “Oggie” (Carol) Edmondson and Willis (Laura) Edmondson all of Alexander City; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchild.

Active pallbearers are J. L. Guin, George Mckee, Ottis Morris, Malcolm Henry Jr., Leon Sealy and Kyle Haynes.

In lieu of flower memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or one’s favorite charity.

Paula Lorenda Webb

Paula Lorenda Webb, 60, of Verbena, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at a Montgomery hospital.

Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev Mike Powers officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Mike Webb of Verbena; two daughters, Debra Webb of College Park, Pa., and Sharon Webb of Van Horn, Texas; four brothers, Pete (Frances) Quinn and Tommy Quinn both of Marbury, David (Brenda) Quinn and Stanley Quinn both of Verbena; three sisters, Ann (Jackie) DeLoach of Selma, Linda (Paul) Burnett of Verbena and Dale (Len) Dillaman of Slipper Rock, Pa.; two grandchildren, Brandon Webb of Verbena and Ashley Webb of Slippery Rock, Pa.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Webb Jr., a brother, Johnny Quinn and a sister, Donna White.

Active pallbearers are Keith Quinn, Ken DeLoach, Gary Quinn, Joe White, Corey Webb and Dorus Vanderlann.

Family visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Charles Henry Murray

Charles Henry Murray, 78, of Selma, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Murray and wife Paula of Kaunakakai, Hawaii and Charles Cecil “Butch” Murray and grandson Charlie of Charleston, S.C.; step-daughter, Wonna Mae Goodman and husband Andrew of Hungry Horse, Mont.; brothers, Carl Guy Murray and wife Annette of Pine Hill, Ralph Murray and wife Gloria Edith of Selma and Harold Murray of Selma; sister, Ann Lyle and husband Dewitt of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren; an number of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Pearl

Murray and Juanita Murray both of Bay Minette; special friends, fellow Pearl Harbor survivors, Jim Davis of Siloam Spring, Ark., and his friends and the staff at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ressie Bee Murray, his parents, Pearl Henry Murray and Emma Coon Murray, brothers, James and Johnnie Murray and sisters, Bertha Teel and Doris Watson.

Active pallbearers are Jimmy Murray, Glenn McGee, Ed “Doc” Watson, Allen Murray, Walter Cannon and Jereme Watson.

Family visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service.

Mr. Murray was a World War II veteran and a survivor of the attack of Pearl Harbor. He was a retired fireman from Craig Field, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Zelma B. Dawson

Zelma B. Dawson, 103, of Tyler, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at a local nursing home.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Goodwin officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews; and The Blocton Family.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Rev. Calvin R. Johnson Sr., 78, of Selma, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at his home.

Services are at 12 noon Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Paul Community Church with the Rev. Chester Purifoy officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons, Edward Carter, Calvin Johnson III (Alice) of Georgia, David Johnson (Nancy) of New York, Ronald Johnson, M. Carter Johnson of Georgia, Reginald (Louise) Carter, Brian Horton and Malvin Hipp (Darlene) of Michigan; five daughters, Girtha (Vernon) Rasberry, Martha J. Hall of Virginia, Pamela Wilkes, Christine (Derrell) Jones and Clester Horton of Michigan; one sister, Sallie Long of New York; 44 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jeanette Ernestine Brooks Davis

Jeanette Ernestine Brooks Davis, of Selma, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002.

Services are at 12 noon, Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Mt. Ararat M. B. Church, Division St., with the Rev. L.L. Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gwendolyn and Jerry Baldwin of Huntsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Foster Jr. and Regina Davis of Selma; three loving grandchildren, Brian Baldwin of Huntsville, Brandon and Jasmine Davis of Selma; two sisters, Annette Brooks, Lucy (Pauldo) Smith of Selma; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a devoted nurse, Mrs. Letha Patterson of Selma; other caregivers, Mrs. Alice Scott of Selma and Mrs. Mille Ford of Huntsville.

Mrs. Davis was the child of the late John and Etta Brooks, she

born Jan. 17, 1921 in Selma. She confessed Christ at the Mt. Ararat M. B. Church under the administration of Rev. A.J. Fisher where she served faithfully until her health began to fall and she moved away with her daughter. She was a faithful member of the Sr. Missionary Society. She genuinely and humbly served and contributed to her church. She knew Christ as her personal Savior and thus lived a life which was exemplary for others to follow.

She was a graduate of Selma Public School.

She was united in Holy matrimony with Foster Davis, Sr. who preceded her in death. Two children were born to this union.

Mrs. Davis, was employed as a Food Service Worker in the Selma Public School System for 32-years, providing nutritious meals for the boys and girls.

One did not have to know her long to experience her devotion as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or a good friend. A humanitarian loving person, Jeanette was an epitome of what Christ intended us all to be ever giving of herself She served her family with loyalty, dedication and a deep sensitivity and responsiveness to the need of each member.

Mrs. Davis had been living in Huntsville, for about two years with her daughter and her family and she had just returned home for a few weeks visit when God summoned her home.
