In a rain-shortened game, the Cloverleafs swept a three game series from Baton Rouge.
Selma started slow. Starting pitcher Brian Ruster gave up five straight singles that helped the River Bats take an early 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first Jose Colon singled and leftfielder Joe Whitmer smashed a two strike pitch over the left field wall to make the score 3-2.
In the top of the second, the River Bats picked up one more making the score 4-2.
In the third, Selma picked up another run. One inning later, Whitmere blasted his second homer, this time a 3-run shot, to give Selma a 6-4 lead.
Whitmere, who hit two home runs and drove in four, sparked a five run inning by the Leafs and gave them all they needed to win the game 7-6.
The Selma Cloverleafs play the Montgomery Wings tonight at 7 p.m. at Bloch Park. Tonight is The Selma Times-Journal night at the ball park.
