Minnie Lee Robinson

Minnie Lee Robinson, 96, of Selma, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Selma Avenue Church. Burial will follow in Sister Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.

Survivors include three daughters, Rose Perkins, Inez Sanders and Oneita Rudoph (Gabe); 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two nephews; and three nieces.

Edna Pearl Harris Stokes

Edna Pearl Harris &uot;Tootie&uot; Stokes, 67, of Selma, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Finch officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, Troy O. (Melissa N.) Stokes of Selma; grandson, Alex Stokes of Selma; sister, Margaret Burnside of Selma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert &uot;Crick&uot; Harris, a sister, Mildred Powers, two brothers, Charles &uot;Bubba&uot; Harris and Alvin &uot;Crick&uot; Harris.

Active pallbearers are

Roy Freine, James Vogler, Jack Burnside, Keith Colley, Mike Yarbrough and Mike Powers.

Family visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Robert Williams

Robert &uot;Percy&uot; Williams, 80, of Forkland, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church, Forkland, with the Rev. Clayborn May officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Family visitation will be from6-8 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Wanda Olivia Ferguson Patterson

Wanda Olivia Ferguson Patterson, 52, of Selma, died Tuesday, June 15, 2003, at her home.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Rev. Joshua Davis officiating and Walker Mortuary directing.

Survivors include her mother, Edith M. Ferguson; one daughter, Elise A. Cherry; two brothers, Charles H. Morton and Walter Ferguson Jr.; son-in-law, Jacques J. Cherry; two sisters-in-law, eight nephews; eight nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Ferguson Sr.

Mrs. Patterson was employed by the Selma City School System as secretary / booker at Payne Elementary School.

Seaybelle Edwards

Seaybelle Edwards, 58, of Sardis, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral

Home with the Rev. Paul Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, James Edwards; parents, Prince and Rosetta Safford; two daughters, Melissa Edwards and Jacquelyn Coleman; six brothers; 10 sisters; 2 grandchildren; and one son-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Viola Harrison Phillips

Viola Harrison Phillips, 98, of Autauga County, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Greater Mallard Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Albert Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Isaac Phillips, Willie Phillips and Larry Phillips; and one daughter, Annie Mae Williams.

Walter Parker Jr.

Walter Parker Jr., 33, of Selma, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in Panama City, Fla.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Rev. L.L. Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Delois L. Parker of Selma; parents, Walter and Irene Parker Sr. of Selma; four sons, Courtney Smith, Rayshun Jackson, Jermin Jackson, and Henry Jackson all of Selma; two daughters, Delois Ann Jackson and Kamilah Jackson both of Selma; one brother, Rodrick Parker of Selma; sisters, Sandra Parker of Selma and Katrina (Clemon) Heard of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren; seven brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Darryl (Lenora) Cosby.

Mr. Landers was retired.

Albert Landers

Albert Landers, 88, of Dallas County, Sardis, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Sardis, with the Rev. Curtis Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Hunter Landers; six sons, Hayward (Beverly), Oscar, Elza (Barbara), John, Albert Jr. and Horace Landers; one sister, Sofronia Landers; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elnora Thomas

Elnora Thomas, 89, of Marion Jct., died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. B.T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with J. H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Willie J. Thomas (Jacqueline) of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughter, Rebecca T. Kimbrough of Marion Jct.; one brother, Elijah Thomas of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three sisters, Rosie Lee Thomas and Betty Kennie both of Marion Jct., and Ellen Caldwell of Selma; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, James Kennie of Marion; daughter-in-law, Margaret S. Thomas of Selma; one special cousin, Mary E. Lewis of Buffalo, N.Y.; one goddaughter, Willie Mae Peaks of Montgomery; and nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are nephews and grandsons.

Mary Cowans Towns

Mary Cowans Towns, 79, of Sardis, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, July 19, at Good Hope Baptist Church, Sardis, with the Rev. John Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel C. Towns; one stepson, George Ishman (Bertha) of Sardis; two daughters, Elaine Towns Alexander (Thomas) of Columbus, Ga., and Ethel Jean Towns Johnson (Jimmy) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Edward Cowans of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Milton Cowans of Paulding, Ohio; one sister, Ovetta Williams of Selma; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. until funeral hour.
