Etta Jane Harvell
Etta Jane Harvell, 88, of Montevallo, formerly of Sunny South, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at a Birmingham hospital.
Services were held Wednesday, July 2, at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Parnell and Marvin Smith, Jr. officiating.
Burial followed at Kelly Cemetery in Pine Hill.
She was a member of Yellow Bluff Baptist Church and lived in Wilcox County all her life before moving to Montevallo three years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harvell, Sr.; daughter, Ella Mae Smith; granddaughters Glenda Dailey, Evon Bedwell, and Tammy Harvell; great-grandchildren Wendy Boyette and Jacob Smith.
Survivors include daughters Henrietta (Burch) Morgan of Selma and Ann Vanderslice of Montevallo; son, Henry (Carla) Harvell, Jr. of Wetumpka; sister-in-law, Ruth Harvell of Yellow Bluff, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Phillip Morgan, Mark Smith, Rex Dailey, Wendell Bedwell, Larry Bedwell, and Adam Bender.
Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Smith, Jr., Harry Mason, Thurman Harvell, Dewayne Bedwell, Dewayne Harvell, Bill Jewell, Leon Morgan, Marvin Smith, Sr., and Burch Morgan.
Dorothy Ann &uot;Sack&uot; Beard Davies
Dorothy Ann Davies, 55, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Selma, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services were held at Albin Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 30, in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband, James Davies; daughter, Latisa Tyus; grandson, Jalin Myles; stepdaughters, Tiffany and Jamesha Davies, Christine Roberts and kids; sisters, Priscilla Hall, Margaret Pugh, Caroline Suttles and Jean Suttles; friends, Viola J. Dudley, Addie S. Huntington,
Mary M. McCants, Mattie Bell, C. Thornton, Hattie A. Mays, Augusta W. Martin, Bertha Williams, Flossie Menifee, Teri Franklin, Beth Thomas and Kenneth Logans.
Virginia Caver
Virginia Caver, 61, of Jones, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Figtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home Service directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner and Estoria Howard; son, Jerome Caver; daughter Miranda Rose; brothers, Russell Howard and John Howard; sister Ethel Harrington; and Luther Caver.
Survivors include her son, Alonzo (Barbara) Caver of Selma; daughter, Judice (Jimmie) Caver of Selma; brothers, Tommy Howard and Lazarus Howard, both of Jones; sisters, Willie Howard of Selma, Athes (Adolf) Smith of Selma, Ore Lillian Broadnax , Geraldine Howard , Zola Howard, and Julia Newton, all of Jones; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two son-in-laws; two daughter-in-laws; two brother-in-laws; two sister-in-laws;
a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends Julia Moultrie and Leviston Caver.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Flower bearers will be her nieces.
Lillie Robinson
Lillie Robinson, 86, of New York, N.Y., formerly of Selma, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at her home.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church with the Rev. Bryan Starks officiating.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Robinson and parents, Archie and Stella Brown.
Survivors include her son, Robert McCampbell; daughter, Rita Bell Reaser; two grandchildren, Gregory (Andrea) Reaser and Diana Pitt; and four grandchildren, Eric, Takesha, Gwendolyn and Greg, Jr.
W.D. &uot;Tubby&uot; Turner
W.D. &uot;Tubby&uot; Turner, 65, of Selma, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his son, Donald Turner of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Gwen Murray of Selma; grandchildren Trey, Justin, Jacob, Cyle, and Sean.
John Lee Washington
John Lee Washington, 54, of Selma, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
He confessed to Christ at an early age and joined the Green Grove Baptist Church of Orrville under the leadership of the Rev. James Shorts.
He as preceded in death by his parents, George and Corine Washington.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Brenda Craig and John Jones officiating and Walker Mortuary directing.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Washington of Selma; sons, John E. (Stephanie) Washington of Orrville, and Terry Washington of Selma; daughters, Gwendolyn Washington of Selma, Belinda Washington of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Earnest V. Washington of Boston, Mass.; sisters, Murry Davis Williams of Boston, Mass. and Margaret (Walter) Williams of Orrville; fifteen grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; three brother in-law; three sister in-law; two nephews; five nieces; three great nieces; and three great nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are John E. Washington, Terry Washington, Gregory West, and Ricky Ellis.
