Velma Fleeman Riggs

Velma Fleeman Riggs, 85, of Selma, formerly of Arkansas, died Friday, June 13, 2003 at a local hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at West Side Baptist Church, Manila, Ark., with the Rev. Bobby Crab officiating. Burial followed in Manila Cemetery, Manila, Ark., with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Paul (Nellie) Fleeman of Manila, Ark.; four daughters, Lois Fleeman of Selma, Lavern Carter of Tennessee, Ruth Jackson of Manila, Ark., and Betty (Randall) Miller of Selma; 10 grandchildren, Tonya, Tina, Debbie, Jimmy, Lori, Anaicka, Dwight, Cody, Heather and Jai; and seven great-grandchildren, T.J., Alexandria, Caison, Eme’, Angel, Matthew and Samantha.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Barney Bunch and Wilson Bunch Jr., and one sister, Emily Mullins.

Rena Isaac-Thomas

Rena Isaac-Thomas, 70, of Jamaica, N.Y., formerly of Forkland, died Wednesday, June, 11, 2003 at a New York hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Evening Star Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include for children, Irene Byrd of Tuscaloosa, Sabrina, Thomas, Willie Thomas and Danny Thomas of Jamaica, N.Y.; three sisters, Lillie Pierce of Birmingham, Dorothy (John) Emerson of Jamaica, N.Y., and Elizabeth (jerry) Campbell of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
