Donald Charles Brink, 76 of Valley Grande, AL passed away January 17, 2010 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Violet (Orr) Brink, a daughter, Donna Brink Smith, a brother, Howard Brink, grandchildren, Bobbie Gail Smith, Bobby Charles Brink, Felecia Vonceal Gill and great-grandchild, Breanna Nikole Beard.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Smith Brink, one son, Charles Ernest Brink of Selma, two daughters, Carol B. Gill (Ronnie) of Jones, Maria B. Caldwell (Steve Merrit) of Selma, one son-in-law, Oscar Smith Jr. (Theresa) of Selma, one sister, Betty Brown of Pennsylvania, two half sisters, Helen Cousins and Patty Strong of Pennsylvania and a special aunt Helen Brink of Pennsylvania and a special sister-in-law, Jeanette Brink of Ohio, grandchildren, Ronald F. Gill (Dana) of Valley Grande, April S. Ross (Jeremy) of Selma, Stacy G. King of Valley Grande, Kristina C. Beard (Chris) of Selma, Stephen B. Smith of Selma, Maranda B. Phillips of Pennsylvania and Tyler E. Smith of Selma, great-grandchildren, Stone, Brinkly and Lily Gill, Donnie Ross, Dylan and Aiden King, Christian Beard, Cathryn, Cayleigh and Nycholas Phillips and Donna, Coleman Gill.
Don was a native of Pennsylvania, coming to Selma via Craig Air Force Base. He served one year in Korea and 4 years of faithful service before being discharged by Maxwell Airforce Base. He went on to work for Craig Air Force Base until its closure, then for Alabama Forestry Commission where he retired. Don was a very loving and hardworking man and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Family visitation will be Wednesday January 20, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday January 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with burial following at Pineview Memory Gardens. Services will be conducted by a long time friend Reverend Henry Levert.
Active pallbearers will be Garland Hardy, Lamar Morgan, Tim White, Barry Surrett, Robby Wyatt and Thomas Parker.
