Barney Frank Skipper, 64, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at his home in Plantersville, AL. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 12noon until the 2pm funeral service Fri-day, January 15, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood South.
Mr. Skipper was a longtime Jackson resident (over 30 years) but had lived in AL for the last 7 years. A Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and retired from the MS National Guard, Mr. Skipper also retired from the City of Jackson in 2001. He was a loving father, grandfather and avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years Donnie Skipper and daughter Amanda May Skipper.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Deason of Plantersville, AL; son Kevin (Sherrie) Skipper of Clinton; daughter Bonnie (Tracy) Bearden of Selma, AL; brothers Ivey “Donald” Williams of W. Monroe, LA and A.B. Skipper of Augusta, GA; step sons Matthew Deason of Raymond and Andrew (Stephanie) Deason of Selma, AL; step daughter Veronica (Jimmie) Dean of Selma, AL; grandchildren Matthew McDaniel, Skylar Bearden, Christopher Dean, Lamar Dean, Dayton Bearden, SueAnn Skipper and Anna Lynne Deason.
