Octavia Woodard

Octavia Denise Woodard, a native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Selma, AL was born on May 6, 1969 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert (Georgia Minor) Woodard, passed this life on September 8, 2009. Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 19th at 11 a.m. at the Lily Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Charles Burns, Pastor &Officiating, Arrangements by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Mobile, AL. After moving to Selma, AL, she joined Lily Grove Baptist Church. She was educated in the Mobile County and Selma Public School Systems, graduating from Selma High, class of 1987. She received the Associate Degree in Business Administration from George C. Wallace Community College. For several years, she was employed by the Selma Times and the Montgomery Advertiser.
“Denise” was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Sallie) Minor, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow (Octavia) Woodard and uncle, Archie L. Minor.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two beloved daughters, Shaniqua Reeshay Lymon and Shaqueria Jon’nay Dial; devoted mother, Georgia M. Minor all of Selma, AL; devoted aunt and uncles, Ada A. Minor-Pair, Earl H. Minor both of Mobile, AL and Samuel L. (Shirley) Minor, Compton, CA; loving cousins, Artemas (Debra Zoe) Houston, Herbert “Mannie” Pair III and Sophia Houston, all of Mobile, AL; Samuel, Jr. and Aaron Minor, Sharon Minor, Alisha Brown and Angela Innis all of Compton, CA; other extended family and many friends.
