Kenneth Marcus Dumas, Jr., age 88 of Selma, recently of Cairo, GA, died September 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nellie Jo Dumas, his parents, Kenneth Marcus and Lyda: siblings Patsy Henderson, Henry Dumas, and Harold Dumas. He is survived by one brother, Louis Dumas, (Helen). Kenneth has three children; David, (Sharon), Clay, Jan LaPorte (Eddie); grandchildren, Kent (Julie), Kevin (Grace), Dave, (Ashley), Lindsay, (Baine) Henderson, Tyler, Reid, Lacey, (Chad) Michael, and Sara LaPorte; great-grandchildren; Keaton, Jenna and Leah Dumas, Ava Dumas, Hadley and Marley Henderson.
Kenneth Marcus “Big Daddy” was born in Clarke County, AL, and grew up in Thomasville, AL. Kenneth graduated from Auburn University in 1950 with a BS in Forestry. Kenneth was a long time member of Elkdale Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He loved God first, then fam-
ily, and Auburn University. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He also loved to cook, and his “Big Daddy pound cake” was enjoyed by all.
Services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Elkdale Baptist Church with Pastor Guy Anderson officiating, Lawrence-Brown Service Funeral Home
directing, and burial following at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday before the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Driver, Kenwood Nichols, Dr. Donald Overstreet, and Frank Earnest Sunday school class. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons; Tyler, Reid, Kent, Kevin and Dave Dumas, Chad Michael, Baine Henderson, and Reed Forbus.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Elkdale Baptist Church Renovation Fund, the children’s program which has remained an important part of Big Daddy’s heart.
