William H. “Dub” Reece, age 86, of Elrod, AL died July 3, 2009, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corinth Baptist Church with Donald Springer and Shawn Odell officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
His wife, Kathleen Shirley Reece, his parents, one brother, two sisters, daughter, Diane Wilson, and grandson Brad Wilson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Harold) Barger, Kathy (David) McAteer from Tuscaloosa, sons, Elton (Joy) Reece, of Selma; Larry (Myndall) Reece, of Elrod; Billy Gene (Nora) Day of Wichita Falls, Texas; J.C. (Betty) Day, of Centreville, AL; and David Day of Duncanville, AL; his brother, James E. “Bud” (Mattie Lou) Reece, Northport, Al; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reece was born in Elrod, AL. He retired from B.F. Goodrich. He honorably served in the United States Army in World War II, and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Todd Reece, Jeremiah Reece, Josh Reece, Dwight Barger, Shaun McAteer, and Bryne Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie and Dorothy Falls and sons, Sam Dockery, Mr. Evans, David Darden, Charlie and Wyman Beck, Ms. Annie Watts, Ms. Vivian, Ms. Rhonda, Ms. Peggy, friends of Elrod, Corinth Baptist Church, Amedisys Hospice, and Dr. Debra Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Corinth Baptist Church.
