James Calhoun Hendrix, age 82, of Valley Grande, Al, passed away May 3, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil L. and Annie Hudson Hendrix and a brother, Virgil L. Hendrix, Jr and brothers-in-law, Paul Howard and J. C. Williams. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Margie Crocker Hendrix; son, Stephen Renshaw “Rennie” (Clara) Hendrix; daughter, Carol Ann (Horace) Jones; sisters, Erma (Alvin) Owens, and Evelyn Howard; half sister, Annie Goodman; grandchildren, Kristie Jones, Kelly Jones (Gary) Norton, Malena Kee, Michael (Tonya) Kee; great-grandchildren, Mary Lawson Norton, Maggie Norton, Dalton Kee, Emilie Kee and Kirk Kinard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arlee (Iris) Crocker, Bill (Jean) Crocker, Jim (Joan) Crocker, Joe (Margaret) Crocker, Bobby (Lyn) Crocker, Maurine (Flym) Burnette, Nora Williams, Elsie (Bryant) Green, Judy (Ed) Elliott and Pat (Tim) Pate.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Paul Headley of Pine Hill, AL officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 5-7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Michael Kee, Gary Norton, Bobby Crocker, Horace Jones, Jerry Hughes and Jack Godwin.
Mr. Hendrix was a lifetime member of the VFW. After his duty in the Army he returned to Selma and started working for Renshaw Dry Cleaners, which he later became the owner for over 20 years. He then managed the City Marina until his retirement.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to VFW Club, Post 3016, Kings Bend Road, Selma, AL 36701.
