1933-2009
Laura Adele Tait Carr, passed away April 25, 2009 at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence in Pensacola, FL after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Carr was born January 6, 1933 in Camden, AL, Wilcox County. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; Porter Edward Tait and Edna Martin Tait, brothers; Porter Tait Junior and Mickey Tait, half brothers; James Everett and Joel Everett, sister; Margaret Tait Wilson and nephew Mike Jones. Laura is survived by her husband, Robert E. Carr, daughter, Denise Knisley (Keith) of Foley, AL., sisters, Martha Tait Jones and Pauline Tait D’Alessio of Pensacola, FL. and sister, Doris Tait (Charles) Locklin of Montgomery, AL and step daughters, Susie (Larry) Warren of Boise, ID and Joyce (Jim) Donaher of Brockton, MA.
Step-grandchildren Misty Gamaz, Justin Yuchnitz, James and Michael Donaher. Great grandson Robbie. Laura Adele graduated from Wilcox County High School and attended Selma Business School and Troy University. Laura was employed by Selma Credit Bureau and Cloverleaf Dairies before becoming a resident of Pensacola, FL in 1977.
Laura’s hobbies were ceramics and working with her flowers. She attended physical fitness classes where she acquired numerous friends. Laura endeared herself to family and friends by her generous spirit and wonderful sense of humor. Laura will be deeply missed and will always hold a special place in her family’s heart.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Joyce Goldenberg Hospice residence who made her last days comfortable and for their kindness and support.
Laura was a life long member of Gullets Bluff Baptist Church of Camden, AL.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Reaves Chapel Cemetery in Camden, AL, with Barney McIntosh officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brother-in-law Charles Locklin, Nephews Dannie Jones, Albert Tait, Ted Tait, Rick Tait, James Tait and Chuck Locklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence, 10075 Hillview Road, Pensacola, Florida 32514.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
