The Rev. Erskine Clemons

Rev. Erskine C. Clemons, 69, a resident of Selma passed Oct. 19, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday Oct. 25, 2008 at 1:pm from Berean Baptist Church in Marion, AL. Burial with Rev. Dwight Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery of Selma under the direction of J. H. Williams &Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Clemons was born to the late Eugene Underwood and Lucy Clemons in Marion, AL on Oct. 9, 1929. He confessed Christ at an early age and was called to the ministry as a young man. He pastored several churches during his career including Mt. Zion, Mt. Olive, New Morning Star (Demopolis) and most recently Green Street Baptist where he ministered until his death. Survivors include a loving wife Rosie Clemons; a daughter Gloria (Rodney) Underwood, one sister Roberta Powell of Mobile, six grandchildren, seven stepchildren and a host of other caring relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 7:pm at Green Street Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at Barean Baptist from 12 noon until time of the service.
