Frances Mayton Thompson

Graveside services for Frances Mayton Thompson, 90, will be on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama. Mrs. Thompson died on Thursday, August 24, 2012, at Jacksonville Health and Rehab.
She is survived by two sons, Richard E. Thompson and his wife, Barbara of Birmingham and Thomas L. “Tommy” Thompson, Jr. and his wife Diane of Jacksonville; two brothers, John Earl Mayton of Memphis, Tenn. and James William Mayton of Missouri; four grandchildren, Thomas L. Thompson III and his wife Cheryl, David Ross Thompson and his wife Julie, John W. Thompson and his wife Lindsey and Amy Appleby and her husband Chris; seven great grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mrs. Thompson was a member and founder of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden. She worked at Craig Field in Selma as a civilian employee during WWII. Mrs. Thompson and her family moved to Gadsden in 1951 and she worked over years with Lancaster Management in Gadsden.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lewis Thompson, Sr.; and her brother, Floyd Mayton.
