Police arrested a Selma man for several alleged crimes, but now they are looking for him again.

Saturday, officers arrested Eric Smith, 31, and charged him with criminal mischief first-degree, domestic violence third-degree, giving false name to law enforcement officer and violation of protection order.

“The suspect was taken to the hospital for self-inflicted wounds,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “He was treated and the details following that are being investigated.”

One thing is clear. He fled the hospital that night and authorities are looking for him again.

He would have with no bond because of the violation of protection order.

Authorities said Smith would fight or flee if an officer approached him. They are also concerned he is out of custody because of the violation of protection order charge.

Smith faces a class-c felony for criminal mischief first-degree and several other misdemeanors.

If convicted of the criminal mischief charge, he could face imprisonment between one year and a day to 10 years and a fine up to $15,000.

Smith stands 6 feet 3 inches. He has been known to frequent L.L. Anderson Avenue and Tremont Street.
