A Selma man out on parole was sentenced once again in court Wednesday.

Selma police and A.B.C. agents arrested Darrell Thompson, 31, and charged him with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

“Darrell ‘Big D’ Thompson’s bond was revoked and he was sentenced to 15 years by Circuit Judge Jack Meigs for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance,” District Attorney Michael Jackson said. “We are going to keep shipping these drug dealers off to prison.”

The incident that caused Thompson to go back to prison occurred on Jan. 23, 2004. An undercover A.B.C. Agent, whose identity was not revealed, outlined the activities of the night.

“I drove to 1431 St. Phillips St. and a black male approached the vehicle,” the agent said. “The black male got into the front passenger seat. I told the black male that I wanted to buy a $20 rock of crack cocaine.”

The agent said Thompson then pulled out a small bag that contained several pieces of crack cocaine. Thompson handed the agent one rock and the agent gave him $20.

The agent then went to an undisclosed location and gave the Selma police officer the evidence.

Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance is a class-b felony. The Code of Alabama defines the crime as a person who “sells, furnished, gives away, delivers or distributes a controlled substance.” Thompson could have been sentenced anywhere from two to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $30,000.
