Sunday morning accident remains under investigation

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the events surrounding a tragic early Sunday morning crash that claimed the life of a Selma teenager.
According to reports, James Brandon Banks, 19, was killed when the Chevy truck he was driving left the roadway and overturned on Alabama Highway 14, roughly five miles east of Selma.
Troopers said the accident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the 123 mile marker. In their release, Troopers said “seat belts were not in use, and preliminary reports indicate that alcohol may have been a factor.” No other information has been made available.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Selma Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Larry Stover officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.
The family will hold a visitation Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
Banks is survived by his parents, Steve and Tracey Banks; brothers (Jessica) Chris Banks and David Lee (Sheridan) Banks; uncles, David (Sybil) Brady, Mike (Patti) Brady and Freddie Brady; aunt, Patricia Brady and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
