Wallace students receive LPN pins

SELMA — Wallace Community College Selma held a pinning ceremony recently to recognize practical nursing students in the Earl Goodwin Theatre on campus.
The evening ceremony held Wednesday, Aug. 25, was a traditional service for licensed practical nurse graduates and included pinning lapel pins, lighting Nightingale lamps and taking the Practical Nurses’ Pledge.
Raji Gourdine, instruction division administrator, provided the ceremony address and WCCS faculty members assisted in the program.
Participating in the program as newly pinned LPNs were: Latechia Ball, Johnnie Mae Billingsley, Cathy Blackmon, Chasity Curtis, Latrice Evans, Ashley Fields, Stacey Folsom, Selena Gibbons, Shannon Grant, Ashley Grauel, Stephanie Grigsby, Adrian Hendrix, Latonia Hester, Pamela Hogue, Susan McCormick, Heather McKinnion, Donnetta Miller, Crystal Nelson, Amy Nix, Kimyatta Page, Melody B. Pratt, Melanie Ray, Katie Seele, Danielle Square, Robin Stewart, Elizabeth Strickland, and, Misty Willis.
Veronica Brown, director of the program, saluted graduates for completing a very challenging course of study and encouraged them to continue to pursue their educational dreams.
“The faculty and staff of the Practical Nursing Program are very proud of these program graduates. We thank them for allowing us to play an important part in their educational success. We also acknowledge the graduates’ families and support groups,” Brown said. “Thanks for your encouragement and sacrifice. We look forward to seeing you all back in the RN program.”
