Southside takes volleyball matches

SELMA — Southside High School’s volleyball team beat Brewtech 25-23, 27-25, 22-25, 25-21 Monday and followed that with a 25-7, 25-15 win over John Essex.
The Panthers were led by Khadijdra Fails with seven kills and five blocks.
Africa Tyler had four aces.
The Panthers also competed in a tournament in Dothan over the weekend and took third place in their bracket.
The Panthers (5-3) beat Carroll and G.W. Long in the tournament.
Fails and Tyler combined for 14 blocks in the tournament.
The Panthers will open their region schedule today, Tuesday, at 4 p.m. against Dallas County High School.
