Suspect makes off with about $4,600

Selma police are looking into a Friday evening robbery in which more than $4,500 was taken from a local business.
Officers responded to a call of a reported robbery at 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Dallas Avenue.
“It appears the store manager left the building and had with her the night deposit,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “When she was outside, she was approached by a black male. He pointed a handgun at her and demanded the money.”
The woman gave the subject the night deposit moneybag, which carried a reported $4,600.
Once the robber had the money in his hands, he fled the scene by running across Dallas Avenue.
The victim gave a description of a black male wearing a green shirt, jeans and a red bandana.
Authorities did not disclose the location of the robbery, but sources revealed it occurred at the Dollar General on Dallas.
The manager was not at work when a reporter called, so no comment could be given.
Officers are asking if anyone saw a man in the area that matches the description given to police, the contact the police at contact the secret witness line at 874-2190 or Crimestoppers at 877-3530.
The suspect faces a robbery second-degree when he is caught. Those charges may be upgraded to robbery first-degree since the crime involved a gun.
If the charges are upgraded, then it becomes a class-a felony. If the subject is then convicted, then he could face 20 to 99 years in prison and pay a fine up to $60,000.
