Drug task force arrests Selma man

A 40-year-old Selma man faces drug charges after his arrest by authorities from the Fourth Judicial Task Force and the Selma Police Department.

Richard Boozer, 5 Willow Drive, was arrested Friday on charges of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and possible precursor chemicals, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana I the second degree and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

He was booked into the Dallas County Jail and later released on $612,000 bond.

Larry Colston, commander of the drug task force, said officers executed a warrant at Boozer’s house about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Colston said once inside the house, officers discovered items generally used in the “shake and bake” method of manufacturing crystal methamphetamine and substance that appeared to be marijuana.

The arrest is part of the Zerometh campaign launched by District Attorney Michael Jackson in the Fourth Judicial District.

“We expect other arrests as we crack down on the manufacture of methamphetamine in the Black Belt,” Jackson said.

Colston said he expects other arrests in the near future.
