The Meadowview Christian School Trojans controlled the game from start to finish, as they cruised to their third-straight win with Tuesday’s 53-33 victory at home against the Sumter Academy Eagles.
James Murphy, head boys basketball coach of Meadowview Christian (5-3), said the Trojans are starting to come together as a team after weeks of hard work in practice.
“The biggest thing is that the guys have been practicing hard. We took a few bumps and bruises in the beginning with our losses, but the guys have actually got a chemistry now and a feel for each other going through everything we do everyday at practice,” Murphy said. “It’s just making things easier. The more you play, the more you do it, the easier it becomes.”
Meadowview opened the game on an 8-1 run, as Travis Stacey scored 6 points in a three-minute stretch, with teammate Clayton Thornton also scoring on a runner.
Stacey ended the first quarter with 10 of Meadowview’s 16 points, as the Trojans went into the second quarter ahead 16-2.
Stacey opened the second quarter scoring the first four points of the period from the line.
Meadowview went on to take a 36-10 lead into halftime.
Stacey led Meadowview with 25 points, while Dylan Lawrence added 21 points for the Trojans.
Meadowview will play again at home on Thursday against Autauga Academy starting at 4 p.m.
