A day after a heroic rescue of a woman who jumped off the Edmund Pettus Bridge, investigators still continue to search for reasons why she would make such a public attempt at suicide.

“We are searching her vehicle now, but haven’t come up to anything at this time,” Lt. Johnny King with the Selma Police Department said.

But, King did say Priscilla Woods, a former resident of Uniontown who now lives in Opelika, was recovering from her injuries at Baptist South in Montgomery and will not face any charges related to her jump from the bridge Tuesday afternoon.

King said Woods, mother of two, was not traveling with her children at the time she came to a stop on the bridge before jumping. King said both children remained in Opelika.

“At some point, when she is better, we hope to interview her to find out what might have led to the decision she made Tuesday,” King said.
