Hazel L. Ware

Long time Selma resident, Hazel Lolley Ware age 91, died April 2, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus (Mutt) Ware and a special friend, Bob Sloan. She leaves behind a son, Richard L. Ware of Selma and a daughter, Patti Ellis (Nat) of Birmingham. Survivors also include two grandchildren, Lauren Horton (Randy) and Richard Reese and great granddaughter, Reese Abigail Horton, also of Birmingham.

After high school graduation Mrs. Ware attended St. Margaret’s School of Nursing. Her nursing career in Selma included several different areas of nursing; including surgery, obstetrics, and becoming Director of Nursing at the Selma Medical Center. Mrs. Ware was a member of Church St. United Methodist Church and was a member of The Mary Sweeney Friendship Class. She loved playing bridge with her friends and cooking. Mrs. Ware was passionate about nursing, her family, and especially her great granddaughter.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown- Service Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m.in the chapel with Rev. Jim Salminen officiating. Interment will be at New Live Oak Cemetery. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity.
