A teenager who was arrested for the murder of 22-year-old Micah Dewayne Johnson last week, appeared in court for his arraignment before District Court Judge Bob Armstrong on Wednesday.
Ronald Mitchell, 19, was charged with murder 1st and acknowledged to investigators that he killed Johnson using a firearm on Tuesday, May 21.
In court Wednesday attorney Ed Green was appointed by Armstrong to represent Mitchell, who will appear in court next for his preliminary hearing on July 2. Armstrong left Mitchell’s bond at $3 million.
Prior to Mitchell’s confession of murder, investigators questioned Mitchell because he was reportedly the last person they believed to have spoken to Johnson before his mother reported him missing.
Mitchell was able to then lead investigators to Johnson’s body, which was in a wooded area near the 100 block of Old Montgomery Highway. Mitchell also took investigators to the site of where he hid Mitchell’s vehicle, a 2000 Nissan Maxima, near LL Anderson Avenue.
Preliminary information indicated that Johnson died of gunshot wounds.
The police said the investigation is ongoing.
