Robin Elizabeth Pattillo

Robin Elizabeth Pattillo passed away on June 14, 2013. Robin was born on Oct. 13, 1953 in Opelika, Alabama to Rob and Elizabeth Pattillo. In 1985, Robin married David Bayne, and they resided in Auburn, Alabama. Robin attended First United Methodist Church in Opelika.
Professionally, Robin’s passion was learning and teaching, and she spent most of her adult life teaching science and nursing to students of all ages and educational levels. To better prepare herself for the task, she continued her education through the years. She received undergraduate (1976) and graduate (1980) degrees in science education, undergraduate (1985) and graduate (1992) degrees in nursing and in 2000 she earned a PhD Degree in exercise physiology. She worked as a critical care nurse in the mid 80’s for about 5-6 years, but after the terminal degree she assumed her role as a full time nursing educator at some of the larger university nursing programs in the country. Her specialty field was pathophysiology. Robin’s last position was Professor, College of Nursing, University of South Alabama in Mobile.
Foremost, Robin was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, professor and active member of her community. Robin was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, David Bayne; sister Donna Daniel and her husband Kenny Daniel; nephew Alex Daniel and niece Haley Daniel; niece Mica Copeland; niece Bobbie Pyron; niece Lori Pyron; sister-in-law Ida Susan Bayne; cousin Casey Page; stepmother Annie Ruth Pattillo Porter; stepsister Debbie Kreigh; and nephew Cory Broome. Robin is also survived by many loving and devoted friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Opelika. Rev. Randal Woodham, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be held in the fellowship hall one hour prior to the service. Graveside Service will be held at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL at 11 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Lee County Alabama Habitat for Humanity: 605 2nd Avenue, Opelika, Alabama 36801.
