After waiving an appearance at her arraignment and filing a not guilty plea, LaTanglia Williams had her court date set for Tuesday, July 29 regarding allegations of sexual relations with several students at Selma High School.

Williams, 36, was arrested April 19 and placed in the Dallas County Jail under a $1,006,000 bond — which was later reduced to a consolidated $100,000. Williams taught health at Selma High during the time of her alleged criminal behavior.

District Attorney Michael Jackson said Williams faces charges of possession of obscene matter, electronic solicitation of a child, being a school employee who had sexual content with a student and enticing a child under the age of 16 for immoral purposes. Williams, who will be represented by Wesley Kelly of Kelly Law Firm, has met bond and is currently on paid leave from her teaching position.

State Superintendent of Education Tommy Bice notified Selma school officials June 13 that his department is looking into allegations of sexual activity involving Selma City School employees and students. Jackson said Wednesday two investigators from the Alabama Department of Education have been in Selma.
