For Andy Stewart, assuming the role of president of the Selma and Dallas County market of Trustmark Banking and Financial Solutions means giving back to his hometown — a place he loves and said will never leave.

“I’ve had opportunities to leave throughout my banking career and to be honest, I never gave it a second thought,” Stewart admitted. “I just really love Selma.”

Attending Morgan Academy then Auburn University, Stewart said coming home to Selma “just felt right.” After spending nearly 14 years in the banking industry, Stewart will now serve as president of the local Trustmark branch—a bank that employs more than 60 Dallas County residents and whose brand was ranked among the top banks by Forbes Magazine.

As president, Stewart said he plans to use Trustmark’s existing resources to better the community.

“Our bank has a really mature staff as far as experience in banking and experience in Selma. It’s a really tenured staff,” Stewart said. “So when you combine that with the resources of Trustmark, it’s really great.”

Before Trustmark, Stewart served as president of the local Wells Fargo Banking branch in Selma. Giving back to the community through banking is something he said he is very passionate about. And because Trustmark is a well-established name in Selma and Dallas County, Stewart said he is excited to dive in to his new position as president and continue the strong name Trustmark has made for itself.

“Really it’s just putting what Trustmark already has to work in Selma. We have a lot of great regional leadership here too,” Stewart said.

Aside from assisting the community in banking, Stewart said he believes strongly in Trustmark’s mission of donating time and money to local organizations such as ArtsRevive and the Selma-Dallas County Public Library.

“I’m really excited about this new role,” Stewart said. “I’m excited about using Trustmark’s resources to help my hometown because I really do love Selma and never plan on leaving. The quality of life here is just great.”
