Charles Wendell Parrish, 89, resident, Aliceville AL, passed awayJuly 18, 201at Pickens Co. Medical Center.

Services will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013 , 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Roger Short and a close friend, Bill Porter.

Burial will follow in Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery directed by Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.

He was prededed in death by his 1st wife, Dorothy Louise Moore Parrish, sons; Charles WendellParrish, Jr. and John Michael Parrish; and his parents.

Survivors include Spouse wife, Myra Clem Wheat Parrish of Aliceville,AL; daughter Cathy Parrish Booth (Billy) of Aliceville, AL; stepdaughter, Myra Plitt (Randy) of Dallas, TX; stepsons, Harry “Butch” Wheat (Sarah) of Quitman, MS , Mark Wheat (Melinda) of Aliceville,AL; grandchildren,Wendy Lynn Parrish, Richard Caldwell, Tammy Gilbertson ,and Tony Caldwell.

A number of step-grandchildren.

Mr. Parrish was born January 4, 1924 in Clanton, Alabama to the late John Lanzo Parrish and Catherine Jewel Gore Parrish. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving his country in World War II as a bomber pilot and a P.O.W. Wendell retired as Director of the

Selma YMCA after 20 years of service. He retired as supervisor with DHR here in Pickens County after 18 years of service.

He was a die hard Alabama fan, but most of all he loved God first, then his family and others.
