Johnny spent many years cris-crossing the country as an independent trucker operating his own rig, and recently moved to Florida to work with Davis Express. He was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis, and was an active member of the adult choir and the Soul Seeker’s Sunday School Class. He was a regular fixture in the church kitchen, often cooking one of his exotic breakfast recipes and helping with Wednesday night meals. He was an enthusiastic supporter of local rodeo events and was a long time member of several rodeo associations. After parking his truck, he was often found near his charcoal grill on his front porch where he regularly enjoyed sharing an expertly prepared steak with friends. He also enjoyed watching football with friends, but his greater enjoyment was being with friends. He deeply appreciated his many friendships and always had a kind word and a big smile for everyone.
A memorial service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis on Sunday afternoon July 28 at 4 PM with Dr. William H. Gardner officiating.
