Shoppers can get a great deal and donate to area charities at the Little Lambs fall consignment sale.
The sale begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and continues at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Old National Guard Armory on West Dallas Avenue.
But, early bird shoppers can attend a special, preview sale Thursday beginning at 7:15 p.m. Admission to the early sale is $5
Little Lambs chairwoman Claire Gibbs said admission proceeds from the Thursday evening sale would be donated to the Selma Area Food Bank.
“It’s kind of like an incentive to get in and shop early, but it’s also for a great cause,” Gibbs said.
The food bank is able to purchase 20 pounds of food for every dollar it receives in donations, director J.D. Parker said.
Little Lambs also donates 25 percent of profits from sales to local charities, chosen after the sale is complete.
Gibbs said she is hoping to raise $20,000 during this year’s fall sale and donate the money to four different charities.
“We feel like we can get the biggest impact if we pick four,” she said.
It’s not too late to sign up to sell clothes. One final clothes turn-in session will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Donors can pick up unsold items after the sale is complete.
The sale has raised $86,655 since its inception in 1998. Previous charities chosen include the Selma-Dallas County Public Library, Dallas County Resource Center, Alabama Teen Challenge among others.
