The Selma Times-Journal has announced the hiring of Sarah Robinson as a staff writer for the newspaper. She began work Monday.
Robinson, who was born in Birmingham and raised in Hanceville, is an August graduate of the University of Alabama. At Alabama, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences, majoring in journalism and minoring in biology.
“My childhood passion for storytelling led me into my journalism career,” Robinson said. “As a child, I would write short stories, read books and journal my daily events. As I grew older, I realized that journalism would be a perfect way to apply my passion to a profession that would improve my community and the world.”
Robinson joins the newsroom with staff writers Jay Sowers, Josh Bergeron, Daniel Evans and editor Tim Reeves.
“Sarah is a very talented young journalist and we are excited to welcome her to the Times-Journal and to Selma,” Reeves said. “I’m looking forward to watching her get involved in the community and continuing our mission of covering Alabama’s Black Belt.”
Robinson said the Times-Journal offered her the best starting point for her journalism career.
“This journey will be filled with good and challenging times that will help me grow as a writer,” Robinson said. “Although I have only been here for a short period of time, I can already tell Selma has a lot to offer. I am excited to learn about Selma through the eye’s of its residents.”
Robinson can be reached at (334) 410-1724 or by email at sarah.robinson@selmatimesjournal.com.
