Pack your bags Selma Saints fans, because your team is in the playoffs.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday that Greenville, who was part of a three way tie with the Saints and Demopolis in Class 5A, Region 3, self-reported that an academically ineligible student played in three victories this season.
The Tigers are forced to forfeit victories over Citronelle, Satsuma, and Sumter Central. Greenville was in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots in Class 5A, Region 3, but with the Tigers out of the picture Selma and Demopolis now know their playoff destinations.
Demopolis is the No. 3 seed in the region because of its head to head victory over the Saints. Selma is the No. 4 seed.
The Saints will play undefeated, No. 1 Spanish Fort in the first round of the playoffs.
This week Selma will take on county rival Ellwood Christian in a non-region matchup to end their regular season.
