Two Selma residents were shot and killed Sunday and Selma Police have charged two men — one of them being the estranged husband of one of the victims — in the murders.
The bodies of two people — one black female and one black male — were discovered shortly after 11 a.m. in an upstairs apartment in building 15 of Candlewood Apartments, located on Lincoln Drive.
According to Selma detective, Lt. Curtis Muhannad, when officers arrived on the scene, Beonridge Bradley III, the husband of the deceased woman, had “found the victims.” The apartment belonged to Bradley’s wife after their mutual separation.
Bradley, 28, and Eddie James Irvin III, 29, were located in the parking lot of the complex, sitting in a vehicle. Investigators then advised the two men to go to the police department to meet with detectives.
According to Muhannad Sunday evening, detectives, after interviewing the two, “found enough probable cause to arrest Mr. Bradley on capital murder.”
Muhannad said Irvin was also charged with capital murder and hindering prosecution first degree.
After being charged, both were placed in the Dallas County Jail with no bond.
Muhannad said police received a call about shots fired from nearby Heritage Hills Apartments around 2 a.m., but did not find anything. They now believe the shots heard were those that killed the two victims.
“At this point we are still working to determine if there was anyone in the other apartments in the building,” Muhannad said. “At this point, we know the female victim rents the apartment, the male victim was a guest.”
The two victims were shot multiple times with a .45 caliber handgun, Muhannad said.
Authorities declined to release the names of the victims until family could be notified.
